During a fierce storm, Belle’s father stumbles upon the mysterious Heartwood — and encounters a terrifying and lonely Beast. I adored Once, so I definitely knew that I’d find myself adoring this one, as well! Belle knows that the old saying “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” doesn’t really ring true.

They are set in the original era not modern retellings, or distopian stories of the future. The added family theme was a nice change of wallpaper.

Other than the fact that the end was a bit too fast and, okay, maybe a bit cheesy it’s a fairy tale though I really enjoyed reading about Belle and Dokey does a really good job of expressing her ideas. The story has a happier ending than you might suppose. The strangest part was the random old lady who wanted to be Grace’s grandma.
Dokey has the talent, she has written some very inventive stories. Belle is gifted at wood carving, and she must find the truth within the tree – and in Beast – in order to set him free. I enjoyed the good writing, the descriptions, I even liked all the characters.
I would love to have seen this become a series.
